Get Involved

There are many ways to help Calgary kids ride. Find the one that fits you.

How You Can Help

It takes a community to put every kid on a bike. Here's how you can be part of it.

🚲

Donate a Bike

Have a bike your child has outgrown? An old bike sitting in the garage? Donate it to Velo. You and give it a second life. We accept bikes of all sizes and conditions — our mechanics will handle the rest.

Get Your Child a Bike

If your child needs a bike, we're here to help. We work through Calgary schools to fit kids with the right-sized bike, a helmet, and safety lights — all at no upfront cost.

Talk to your child's school about the Velo. You program, or contact us directly to find the next fitting event near you.

Annual Bike Exchange

Already part of the program? When your child outgrows their bike, bring it back for the next size up. The $15 annual exchange fee pays our young mechanics and keeps every bike in top shape.

Exchanges happen at scheduled school events throughout the year.

Community Cleanup Partners

We work with community associations across Calgary to organize neighbourhood cleanup events. These events serve double duty: keeping communities tidy and collecting bikes for kids who need them.

If your community association, school, or business wants to host a collection event, we provide everything you need — promotion materials, collection logistics, and pickup service.

The $15 Exchange

$15/year

One small fee. One safe bike. Every year.

The annual exchange fee is how we keep the program sustainable. It pays our young mechanics, covers replacement parts, and ensures every bike that goes out is safe and road-ready. Helmets and lights are always included.

Every Contribution Counts

A donated bike. A few hours volunteered. A $15 exchange. It all adds up to a Calgary where every kid can ride.
